Tuina in Montreal
What is tuina?
Tuina is a form of manual therapy originating in China. Tuina practitioners are certified massage therapists who have completed specialized training in this approach. Tuina is sometimes compared to osteopathy, with which it shares certain common roots. It draws on the perspective of Chinese medicine to understand the body in its states of health and imbalance.
Tuina is generally performed on clothed patients, without the use of oil. Practitioners use a wide variety of techniques, including cupping, moxibustion, and the application of external herbal treatments in the form of baths and poultices.
At la Clinique Gongfu, we practice the system of Tuina developped by Hsu Hongchi (徐洪基), who taught xingyiquan to our teacher, Vince Black. This form of massage is known as Jin Shou Tuina and it was transmitted to us by Ethan MurchieAc., member and former president of the North American Tang Shou Tao.
All of our tuina therapists in Rosemont are certified massage therapists and are able to provide insurance receipts for their treatments.
