Acupuncture in Montreal
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture uses needles to perform targeted interventions on health concerns in order to bring you back to a state of balance and well-being. It is a holistic therapy that can achieve results on both the physiological and psychological levels. It is one of the five main modalities of traditional Chinese medicine, based on the concept of the circulation of Qi, the vital energy, through energetic and physical pathways, also known as meridians, or more precisely, channels.
What Happens During an Acupuncture Session?
During an acupuncture treatment, the acupuncturist first conducts an initial assessment, including palpation, observation, and discussion, in order to fully understand the issue and choose strategies and interventions tailored to each patient. The patient is then positioned comfortably for the insertion of the needles. Most patients find that the needles are not painful, though they may sometimes cause a slight tingling sensation. The session typically lasts between 50 minutes and one hour.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most patients find the insertion of the needles painless, and even experience a sense of well-being once they are in place. Some points, however, may be more sensitive. If you feel anxious about needles, speak with your practitioner at the beginning of your appointment or contact us to discuss it.
